Heh, after yesterdays post I thought I'd follow it up with a comment about my favourite browser Konqueror. Unlike other browsers, Konqi allows cross site requests using the XMLHttpRequest class from locally stored (on the file system) HTML files. It would be interesting to see how, it handles files served by the various IO slaves but frankly I don't have the time right now. I only stumbled on this in light of my attempts to debug some Javascript for another of my projects.
