Portcullis Security Advisory 07-004 Vulnerable System: Bandersnatch Jabber conversation logger Vulnerability Title: Conversation logs are vulnerable to a reflected Javascript injection. Vulnerability discovery and development: Portcullis Security Testing Services. Credit for Discovery: Tim Brown - Portcullis Computer Security Ltd. Affected systems: All known versions of Bandersnatch, this vulnerability was discovered for version 0.4. Details: Javascript can be injected into Bandersnatch's conversation logs by sending a malicious resource name using a standard Jabber client. When an authenticated user visits the conversation logs, this will be included as part of the attackers JID. It is likely that there are other elements of the log that have similar injection points although this has not been tested. Impact: An attacker could use this to execute malicious code on the visitors computer. Exploit: Exploit code is not required.
